Carol-Ann Belzil-Normand

Artist in residency
July 16 to July 30 and October 30 to November 10, 2017

As part of her residency at DAÏMÔN, Carol-Ann Belzil-Normand will explore the concept of smell, sound and moving images. In 2014, she produced an audio publication Smell of Sound supported by Avatar Center and by Première Ovation, program of Quebec City. During her residence, Belzil-Normand works her sound inspired by still lifes. More precisely, she works on the representations of the olfactory memory with objects that she used during her recording sessions in the sound studio. At the end of this residency, she would like to produce a work resulting from the animation cinema combining sounds, smells and moving images that will ultimately produce a singular visual composition in an intimate sound space.

Artist of Quebec City, Carol-Ann Belzil-Normand graduated from Université Laval with a bachelor’s degree in Visual and Media Arts and a bachelors’ degree in animation. She recently completed a Master’s degree in Visual Arts about the ethical and aesthetic posture of the frivolity. For her master’s degree, she was selected to make a residency at La Bande Vidéo with the contribution of the Fonds Fondation-René-Richard of the École d’art of Université Laval. Also, she has received two grants from
Première Ovation program from Quebec City.
