Guillaume Adjutor Provost

Digital Video and Printing

In residence from 8 to 21 December 2011

Guillaume Adjutor Provost puts webcams to new use and defends them as a noble way of making images. He modifies their optics and alters their signals to produce by turns short videos and snapshots which explore from close up the intermediate nature of his subjects. The pictures he compiles thus accumulate and are magnified through coupling. During his production residency at Daïmon he will select a few excerpts from his videos and create chromogenic prints from them.

DAÏMÕN thanks its members, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Service des arts, de la culture et des lettres of the city of Gatineau.

Guillaume Adjutor Provost is a metadisciplinary artist currenly enrolled in a doctoral program in the École des arts visuels et médiatiques at the Université du Québec à Montréal. His artistic explorations focus on the modulating role of curatorial practices and the practices of artist-curators. He is the recipient of grants from the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec and Première Ovation and of a graduate study scholarship from Hydro-Québec. Guillaume Adjutor Provost’s work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Quebec, Ontario, the United States, Belgium and Germany.
