autonomous residency

Katia Gagnon

Through her installations and sculptures, Katia Gagnon comments, often sarcastically, on the decline of ruthless capitalism. Her multidisciplinary approach to end-of-the-world culture, the collapse of capitalism, and the Anthropocene leads her to constantly explore new materials and techniques, particularly robotics.

Katia Gagnon will be working at DAÏMÔN from June 16 to 30, 2026, as part of an autonomous residency.

about

Nouveau développement

How can public participation in the symbolic narrative of a sculptural installation foster a sense of engagement capable of transforming eco-anxiety into a driving force for action?

During her time at the Center, the artist will transform her work Nouveau développement, created for the 2022 Sentier culturel (the “robot sculpteur”).

Starting with an improved version of the programming and the electrical box, she will experiment with different movements, sometimes using recycled components from small car motors, to sculpt various materials.
