Corps Numériques Residency

Kumiko Ueda

Kumiko Ueda is a playwright and director. After gaining experience at a major performing arts institution in Japan, she decided to embark on a new artistic chapter and, in 2024, founded Projectumï, a creative and production organization that began in Japan and later established itself in France (Montreuil, 2025). Her work explores formats in which physical expression reshapes the relationship between the stage and the audience, sometimes with audience participation. The PNEUMA project, developed at the Kinosaki International Art Center (2024), was presented in Tokyo in 2025 as a participatory performance.

Since 2023, she has lived and worked in Montreuil, France. She has also been named a Saison Fellow II for the 2024–2027 period. She is a recipient of the Japan Creator Support Fund (2024–2027 season, Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan).

About

Konashi-Komachi

A science-fiction piece to unlearn time.

In this performance, a livestream from the year 2079, following a demographic collapse, brings forth, before today’s audience, an alternative timeline carried by physical presences and a soundscape. Through screens, the audience meets Kumi-Komachi, a VTuber who takes the aged form of the artist’s own self at the age of 100. She recounts how she chose not to have children in order to devote herself entirely to her career and to competition.

Corps numériques

At the intersection of performing arts and technological practices, Corps numériques  is part of a joint exploration between Trillium and Centre de production DAÏMÔN. This collaborative residency examines contemporary performing arts practices through tools and processes in which digital technology acts as a creative partner.

This collaboration is based on a fundamental principle: digital technology can be understood as a living form of thought. The residencies draw on all of Trillium’s and DAÏMÔN’s resources: equipment, expertise, spaces, and accommodations.
