La Quadrature

Formed in 2013, La Quadrature is a collective organization dedicated to contemporary storytelling. Its projects focus on research, exploring the form of storytelling, the creative processes, and the challenging of all forms of power relations in order to foster the emergence of egalitarian imaginings. La Quadrature likes to take risks, whether on stage, in public spaces, or on the web, and always beyond disciplinary silos. The group considers storytelling to be a sociopolitical act in which speaking is as important as listening.

The collective’s creations include installations, sound creations, and performances, always exploring the possibilities of the relationship with audiences. They often combine live and digital elements, with a low-fi approach in line with their ecological values. The collective’s projects have received several awards and have traveled throughout America and Europe.

about

Manifestation sonore

Manifestation sonore starts from the premise that protest is perhaps less about the need to speak out than the desire to be heard. The storytellers of La Quadrature explore the political implications of speaking and listening. A performative project comprising stories, testimonials, manifestos, sounds, and hope, followed by a discussion to fuel collective reflection.

For the second year, the Maison des arts littéraires is partnering with the Centre de production DAÏMÔN to offer a two-week collaborative residency during which Paul Bradley, Céline Jantet, and Nicolas Rochette from La Quadrature will be able to explore various medias that could deepen or hybridize their storytelling practice: audio, digital, video, print, etc. A wonderful playground for artists to experiment freely!

La Quadrature will mark the end of their residency with a performance of Perpétuelle manifestation, a project closely connected to their work Manifestation sonore. The event will take place on November 14th from 8 P.M. to 10 P.M. in the Multifonction Studio at Centre DAÏMÔN. Get more details and book your spot here.
