Artist in residence

Rouzbeh Shadpey

Artist residency | May 2nd to 28th, 2022

The Centre de production DAÏMÔN is proud to welcome, Rouzbeh Shapdey.

Rouzbeh Shadpey is an adisciplinary artist and musician with a doctorate in medicine and inexhaustible exhaustion. His work explores (de)colonial pathophysiologies of illness and weariness, with a focus on the aesthetics and poetics of neuroimaging, diagnostics, and fatigue.  Rouzbeh’s musical practice under the name GOLPESAR / گلپسر  combines avant-garde electronics, scraped guitar, (softly) spoken word(s), and echoes of Iranian sonics. Rouzbeh has exhibited, as well as performed, at the Mosaic Rooms, Centre Clark, MUTEK, AKOUSMA, Suoni Per Il Popolo, and more. He currently lives in Tiohtiá:ke / Mooniyang / Montreal.

Untitled (working title: the house whose walls ached the song of time)

Untitled (working title: the house whose walls ached the song of time) is a sound installation which explores illness and fatigue as an infinite conversation between the artist, his mother, and her mother. Time spent in the hold of fatigue is translated through dialogue between these three—a dialogue which is preciously safekept at the heart of a spatial sound installation, whose charged electroacoustic gestures continuously deplete themselves in a series of seemingly endless exhalations.

Meet the artist, Tuesday May 24th starting at 6:30 pm.
