Marie-Jeanne Musiol receives a GGArts Award
A First for the Region
On September 16, Marie-Jeanne Musiol, artist and founding member of DAÏMÔN, was awarded the Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts, a first for an artist from the Outaouais region.
Administered by the Canada Council for the Arts, this award recognizes the diversity and quality of her life spent in the arts deeply rooted in Hull, where she develops a significant portion of her practice. This distinction attests to the artist’s enduring contribution to the region’s artistic life and marks the first time the Outaouais region has been recognized by this Governor General’s Award.
An Electrifying Career
Marie-Jeanne Musiol creates experimental images and videos using the light imprints of plants recorded in electromagnetic fields. These hundreds of light forms make up a virtual energy herbarium, at the intersection of botany and electrophotography. Alongside her work as an artist, she also initiates civic initiatives in public spaces to foster new collective dynamics.
