EXPLORATION AND CREATION IN SOUND ART

DETONATIONS

WINTER-SPRING 2021

DAÏMÔN is proud to officially inaugurate its ambisonic studio by presenting DETONATIONS ; a sound art exploration and creation project.

Seven multidisciplinary artists and collectives are invited to invest our new studio to develop works and share their approach to sound spatialization under the theme DETONATIONS.

DETONATIONS is a conception by DAÏMÔN, realized within the framework of the Outaouais 2019-2020 Territorial Partnership Program and receives financial support from the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec, the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation and the city of Gatineau.

FET.NAT

FET.NAT is an experimental music group from Gatinois, composed of singer and lyricist JFNO, guitarist Pierre-Luc Clément, saxophonist Linsey Wellman and drummer Olivier Fairfield. Their sound, which is described as a collage of punk, free jazz, breakbeat and theatrical surrealist poetry, inhabits the music of FET.NAT.

Their album Le Mal was selected for the Polaris Music Prize in 2019. Since they were fortunate enough to lose the grand prize, the group has been recognized on the national scene for its catalog of recorded works as well as its particular approach to stage performance.

For this third collaboration with DAÏMÔN, FET.NAT seeks to explore the creative possibilities offered by the ambiophonic studio.  The conception and realization of the work will be elaborated completely in situ without premeditated means. A game, a series of choices dictated by a particular system. The process of creating new sounds is their number one priority.
