EXPLORATION AND CREATION IN SOUND ART

DETONATIONS

WINTER-SPRING 2021

The DAÏMÔN Production Centre is proud to officially inaugurate its ambisonic studio by presenting DETONATIONS ; a sound art exploration and creation project.

Seven multidisciplinary artists and collectives are invited to invest our new studio to develop works and share their approach to sound spatialization under the theme DETONATIONS.

DÉTONATIONS is a conception by DAÏMÔN, realized within the framework of the Outaouais 2019-2020 Territorial Partnership Program and receives financial support from the Conseil des arts et lettres du Québec, the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation and the city of Gatineau.

Marc-Alexandre Reinhardt

Marc-Alexandre Reinhardt is a Gatineau-based artist with a practice at the crossroads of installation, performance and in situ intervention. His work is mainly articulated around sound, performance, text and video.

The Fanning is a sound installation using fans, speakers and microphone. The interaction of the objects with each other and with the acoustic resonance of the place produces a sound environment that fluctuates randomly over time. The dynamic transformation of the device proceeds by positive and negative feedback, which generates unpredictable fluctuations and the achievement of a precarious, impermanent state of equilibrium.

During the residency, professionals and non-professionals were invited to intervene in the device with their voices to experiment with different ways of entering into resonance with this “metastable” environment, constantly on the threshold of sensory overload. At the end of the residency, a multi-channel ambisonic piece will be composed from recordings made throughout the experimentation.
